We're Hiring: Dog Bus Driver / Pack Leader in South Calgary

You've probably seen the bus. Ruff and Puff has been running Calgary's original dog school bus since 2020, and about 2 million people follow along online. Every weekday our buses pick a pack up from their homes, take them out to our private 8-acre fenced park for a real off-leash adventure, and deliver them home tired and happy.
We're adding to the crew. Two very different spots are open.
1. Dog Bus Driver / Pack Leader
South Calgary · $23 to $27/hr · Monday to Friday, Possibly adding saturdays in future.
This is hands-on work. You're behind the wheel for a majority part of the day and out in the field with 8 to 12 dogs for the rest of it, so we need someone genuinely confident around a big group and just as comfortable talking to the owners who trust us with them.
What the day looks like
Run your route in one of our short buses, picking up and dropping off at client homes
Load and unload calmly, keeping the pack settled and safe
Supervise group play at our private park and read the room before problems start
Step in on behavioural stuff with confidence
Check dogs in and out on your phone, write up report cards, get photos of every dog
Grab clips and photos we can use on social
What you need
2+ years of paid, professional dog handling: daycare, walking, training, boarding or rescue
Valid full Class 5 licence
3+ consecutive years of driving insurance history and a clean abstract
Comfortable driving a short school bus. We train you on the vehicle, we can't train you on 12 dogs at once
Strong communication. You're the face of the business at every door
Legal to work in Canada, fluent English
Bonus points for pet first aid certification, formal dog training education, or if you already shoot decent phone content.
Schedule and pay
Monday to Friday, daytime hours. No evenings, no weekends. Starts part-time at 12 to 20 hours a week while you train on the route (first few weeks), then moves to full-time at 30 to 40 hours once you're established. $23/hr to start, up to $27/hr as your experience and training build.
2. Trusted Boarding Home (referral partner)
South Calgary · Independent, not an employee · 80/20 split
Between 300 and 400 dogs come through our buses every week, and every week we get boarding requests we have to turn down, because we don't board. We'd rather send them to someone good. We're looking for one independent boarding home in South Calgary to join our Trusted Boarding Homes. We keep this list to one or two people on purpose.
How it works
You run your own boarding service and set your own prices and availability
Clients book through our app. We handle the booking and the payment
We keep a 20% referral fee, you keep 80%, paid out weekly
You're free to board other dogs independently
Bring the dogs you're boarding to our private 8-acre fenced park for 50% of private park rental rates
What we need from you
You live in South Calgary, with a fenced yard, and the dogs live in your house
Your own liability insurance (roughly $45 to $70 a month)
Real professional experience with dogs, not just a love of them
Happy to do a meet and greet before a first stay, and happy for us to come see your place if needed.
The best part: 90% or more of these dogs already ride with us and already play together at the park every week. You're not taking in strangers, you're taking in a pack that already knows each other.
How to apply
Email your resume to ruffandpuffdogdaycare@gmail.com with a short note about the biggest group of dogs you've handled off-leash and how you kept it under control. Applications without that note don't get read. Same address for the boarding partnership, just tell us that's what you're after. We read every application, so give us up to a week.
What happens next: a short phone call, then a paid working interview out at the park with the real pack. That's where we both find out if it's a fit. Then references, licence and driver abstract.
Nothing open that fits? Apply anyway. We grow, routes get added, and we go back to our own list first before posting publicly.
See a typical day over at @ruffandpuffyyc.
